The Rogue AI Agent Lie - think you know what happe The Rogue AI Agent Lie - think you know what happened when OpenAI (and other) agents “went rogue” over the summer?
There’s one important thing that most mainstream reporting got wrong.
My Google storage seems to run out quicker these d My Google storage seems to run out quicker these days, and lo and behold, it's because every AI image I've generated, and every Gemini chat I've had, is counted. And they're massive.

I need all the help I can get, so please share, and vote!

Also in the video - a sneak peek at how you can get AI to write your articles for you.
A sneak peak at the opening part of tomorrow's new A sneak peak at the opening part of tomorrow's newsletter. One half was written by me, and one by AI, pretending to be me. Your job is to vote on which is which, and more importantly, which you prefer.

I'd love you to subscribe at spencerkelly.substack.com, and thank you for taking part in my big, mad, AI dice-roll!

It's finally happening: My Substack this Saturday It's finally happening: My Substack this Saturday will be written half by me, and half by AI. But can YOU tell which is which? And which is better?

And if AI wins, I'm killing the newsletter. So there.

I want as many votes as possible, so please do subscribe and share widely.

May the best intelligence win!
You said "your prompt was bad." I say you're wrong You said "your prompt was bad." I say you're wrong.

My AI Ghost Post got a big reaction recently - thank you if you watched! The link is in my feed, if you'd like to see how a simple AI prompt caused a ghost to appear...

This new video explains how AI actually changes images, why I disagree with some of the comments, and why it will always see ghosts.

And then at the end, she appears again...
I'm starting to see a lot of beautiful slides in p I'm starting to see a lot of beautiful slides in people's presentations. Well laid out, crammed with information, eye-catching fonts. Much lovelier than anything that I saw before LLMs learned how to do this.

But very quickly they've all started to look pretty homogeneous.

So I'm curious. Do you use AI to build your slide decks? How hard/easy is it to get results that are accurate and good-looking? Does it save you a lot of time? Have you got much more important things to do with your day? Do you have a team who "slave for ages" over these things? Should I just shut up and stay in my lane (which, coincidentally, is giving keynote presentations)?

(thanks @cherrytreefilms for the pix)
Cried on camera? Yeah, me too. The fantastic phy Cried on camera? Yeah, me too.

The fantastic physicist @particleclara recently posted a video about the reaction people have to walking through *that* door @cern Behind it is one of the most iconic and important sights in science. The largest machine ever made by humans.

And she's absolutely right. Seeing the Large Hadron Collider, and the CMS, was a religious experience for me.

And after we saw the 15 metre detector from the balcony, we nipped into a cherry picker and rode it up to the centre of the machine. I'd had no idea we'd be able to do this, so I had no script.

But fortunately I *love* this subject, and pulled a quick explanation of high energy particle physics out of my head. @conniepotter1 , you would have been proud.

And then my eyes leaked a bit more.

Fortunately @mrbenlister was filming the whole thing (quick tip: hire a cameraman who keeps rolling, because the best bits happen when you least expect it) and edited it beautifully.

One of the best days of my life.

It just feels like this will only be put to bad uses...
What say you? Comments welcome.

Extreme Drone Testing: What happens when a quadc Extreme Drone Testing:

What happens when a quadcopter drone loses a blade? It doesn't need to fall out of the air. It just needs to spin in a very particular way.

This is a throwback to the time Markus Hehn and Raffaello D'Andrea very kindly scared the life out of me by jamming a plank of wood into a drone, to demonstrate their special flight recovery software.

Special thanks to Marianne Lucien and @ethzurich for having us!
Can A.I. write a better newsletter than me? And ca Can A.I. write a better newsletter than me? And can you tell the difference?

I'm currently building an LLM project that will learn everything it can about me, and then reflect on how the last 2 years have changed me as a person. The article it writes will be half of next month's newsletter.

The other half will be my own reflections, written completely independently.

And, stupidly, within the newsletter, I will ask you to vote on which half you think is the real me, and crucially, which half you prefer.

Details are in this month's edition, available at the link in the image. My future is in your hands!

Another freeze-frame gem. I think the words I'm sa Another freeze-frame gem. I think the words I'm saying here are "I stared right into the heart of the Large Hadron Collider".

It was an emotional moment, which, looking at the pictures, I'm still reliving on-stage.

(thanks again @cern for having me that time, and thanks to @conniepotter1 for enabling further trips to that hallowed ground)

Hey Jack, I don't think these companies disclose s Hey Jack, I don't think these companies disclose subscriber numbers, but I'm sure plenty of people have done exactly the same as you. There's no such thing as bad publicity, after all.
On that point, I would say these warnings have had *exactly* the desired effect.
