It was a total privilege to host this sold-out eve It was a total privilege to host this sold-out event at the world-famous @ri_science on Friday. We talked about the science of fiction, and on-board were @conniepotter1, prolific author Dame Margaret Drabble, particle physicist Kristin Lohwasser and Sherlock & Doctor Who legend @stevenwmoffat. The audience were brilliant - their questions were all pretty scientific. We had to deal with black holes, dark matter and super-high energy collisions. And that was just London traffic.

I *think* this is my first memory of it, although having checked the date, it means I was watching a pretty gothic phase in its history when I was 4, so I don't know what my parents could have been thinking. The Horror of Fang Rock was pretty terrifying after all! But the Doctor has shaped my life ever since. I've been a loyal companion through good and bad, and I'm so excited for the new Disney deal. Just when I worried it might be time to rest it again, it's about to get even bigger, and, let's hope, even better. Many happy returns, and returns, and returns...

This weekend @BBCClick I'm trying out Wonder Studi This weekend @BBCClick I'm trying out Wonder Studio from @WonderDynamics. It's a cloud-based service that identifies humans in the video you upload, motion tracks them and replaces them with CGI characters. The results are, well, pretty good. Although there are limitations... ...as you can see in the second video, the results aren't always perfect, but the software will spit out the various elements for VFX artists to manipulate and correct afterwards. The third video is one of my early test shots - a piece-to-camera I filmed @Firefly_Space in January that I thought could do with a bit of roboting up.

At the IFA tech show I was invited to have a chat At the IFA tech show I was invited to have a chat with an animatronic robot called Desdemona. In the past these robots have read out preprepared answers to preprepared questions, with a human in the loop to help them along. But thanks to Large Language Models like ChatGPT, we now know that human-like chat is possible. So what follows is, to my understanding, a completely automated response to my unprepared questions - and I was told to make it sci-fi...and just as we were finishing up and getting some extra shots, I asked the robot if it had heard of @BBCClick. We didn't catch the question on camera, but what happened next is genuine, and left me with a smile on my face!
